TRAVELING THROUGHOUT SPACE
Due to the vastness of space, travel would regularly take immense amounts of time and there could be endless changes in the duration of even just one trip between planets. In this universe, however, are many ways to circumvent travel time and close unbelievable amounts of distance in a short period of time. The most common way is wormholes.Throughout the universe, many wormholes have appeared. Although the cause is uncertain, there are those who believe it is somehow connected to the emergence of The Blight across the galaxies. Further study has shown that these wormholes connect to an exit point elsewhere in the universe. You could be eons away in a distant galaxy, but find yourself by Mars or Jupiter the next day. While the cause is unknown, both trade ships and faction war ships have made use of these wormholes to travel quickly, finding prosperity in them in both economy and warfare. As such, players are able to travel to and from distant galaxies and planets with minimal effort if they possess the means to. This also allows players to create their own planets and races for the sake of roleplay, whether it's NPCs or their own characters.
STAKING A CLAIM ON A PLANET
Many planets out in the universe are uncharted territories, while others inhabit life but are yet to be discovered. There are various resources to be found on these planets that can be used to further one's cause, but some may come at a price.Players are able to find distant planets and stake a claim on them. If left uncontested for three days, the planet is theirs at little cost. If another player contests, they may do battle over that planet in an effort to claim it, and the winner takes it as theirs at the end. Planets may serve as a valuable foothold for your faction, or a base of operations for independents, and planets are also eligible for their own sub-board within The Star Ocean. If a planet becomes an active enough site of roleplay, or it becomes important to the overarching plot of the board, it may even be moved out to its own board rather than a sub-board.When claiming a planet, please include the tag "(CLAIM)" in your thread title.
