CLOVER Ó BRÁDAIGH | “With faith o'ercome the steeps Thy God hath set for thee.” |
BIOGRAPHY Someone once said her– “belief is a thing of the past.” After all, it's long since been scientifically proven that there is no Mount Olympus, or a Heaven hidden between the clouds with an elderly robed man to tell the little people below what's 'right' and 'wrong.' In response, however, she merely sighed wearily and fiddled with the coin between her fingers. Her faith is something often mocked, few ever bothering to question its origin. In truth, it's as simple as being born to a religious family, and being taken from the Blighted Earth during prayer. Saved, or so she believed, by a divine power who had greater plans for the young girl with hair and heart of fire. The Lord believes in overcoming strife; to prove an endeavor earnest through pain and struggle. The loss of her beloved family was not enough, as years of being traded as a 'worker' would dictate. Child labor, it would seem, is not as frowned upon across the stars as it was at home. After ten years or so, the girl had finally managed to scrounge up enough coin to buy her own freedom, and immediately chose to... economize her craft. Weapons were her forte, and lucky for her, they were always something in high demand. By twenty, she was one of the more renowned illegal dealers stationed around Gliese 412, before finally deciding to pursue a more honest career in one of the galaxy's most populated cities: New Starhaven. Work was not hard to come by with the amount of humans and aliens moving in and out for pleasure and/or trade. A God-send, indeed. The only new development that she was not entirely pleased with was the discovery that she was ill. 'Ill' in the sense that she had been drastically affected by the blight, to an extent in which she had not been aware of until cornered by those who identified themselves as members of the “Anti-Powered Being Alliance.” Though she made no move to retaliate, they held a muzzle to her head and escorted her forcefully to their headquarters, where they would contain and study her for several months until content in their discovery. Her powers, they deemed, had not yet developed. Unused, and therefore perceived not an immediate threat, she was reluctantly released under the condition that she agree to 24/7 surveillance and was forbidden from leaving the system. They handed her a written contract, which she feigned to peruse before eventually admitting that she had no idea what it entailed. It went on like this for many years more– the self-fancied 'police' governing her every move (although it pained her to admit it, they were actually quite amicable), her powers latent, with the media spreading increasingly disturbing news about other powered beings. It troubled her, to say the least, that such creatures were given power– and used it for their own personal gain rather than for His will. At 24, when the radiation within her finally reached the surface, she had signed up as a member of the APBA, swearing herself to its cause. While not physically well enough to fight on the front line, she had the know-how and connections to supply its members with top of the notch weaponry, some of which made by her own two hands. Her reputation was that of a hate-worthy, loud mouthed gunsmith with a knack for getting the best deals. Damned if the wretch wasn't good at her job, but that certainly didn't make her likable. A few years later and she's been given more leeway– permitted to come and go as she pleases, Clover “Braid” O Bradaigh is one of the alliance's more disputable members; hated, but appreciated, she scours the galaxy for great deals and blighted villains. POWERS Sense Control: (Lvl. 1) Braid's ability isn't anything fancy like pyromancy or invisibility. Hers is a touch more modest, and a lot more practical. Her sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch are far more powerful than the average human's, bordering on surreal. She can spot a needle in a hay stack, smell acute differences and recognise their origins, etc. (Lvl. 2) Further increased sight, smell, and hearing. Braid now notices differences in spoken pitch, linking it to the being's emotional state. (Nervous, angry, etc.) (Lvl. 3) Braid is now capable of 'borrowing' another person's senses; depriving them of one sense, while further enhancing her own. She can see from another person's eyes, hear from their ears, taste from their tongue. The use of this ability generally causes hysteria in the victim. This may only be used on organic lifeforms. (Lvl. 4) Praise the Lord, hallowed be thy name. Braid can now hear, see, and smell through various obstacles, even walls of thick steel. She can now steal up to two of another being's senses from greater distances, and may choose to simply not return them. Usable only on organic lifeforms. (Lvl. 5) Braid can completely deprive multiple persons of all of their senses, leaving them blind, deaf, numb, anosmic, and ageusic. Generally causes insanity, assuming the person does not die due the inability to care for one's self. Usable only on organic lifeforms. | NICKNAME Braid AGE 26 GENDER Female SEXUALITY Unknown FACTION APBA OCCUPATION Gunsmith |
